Amanda Redman has announced she’ll only appear in one more series of the popular crime drama before bowing out to concentrate “on something new” New Tricks (now in it’s ninth series) has proved hugely successful for the BBC but Redman has decided she needs to move and focus on other work. Amanda, who plays Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman, will quit the show next year after filming eight more episodes.

She told the Daily Mirror: ‘I love New Tricks and I have loved playing Sandra – I’ve got some gritty plot lines – but I feel I have to try something new.’

It was announced last year that longtime cast member James Bolam was leaving the series and was to be replaced by Dennis Lawson who will join the cast for the ninth series due on BBC1 on Monday 27th August.
